To all Swimmers, Parents and Guardians
As you know, Jo and Paul Jackson will finish their time with the Club next week and their last session will be on Wednesday 21st October. They will be greatly missed and have provided excellent coaching to our swimmers for many years.
I am delighted to tell you that we have appointed a new Assistant Head Coach, Lindsay Powell, who we believe will be a real asset to the Club. Lindsay brings with her a wealth of experience in her long and varied career as a swimming coach. Most recently she has been Assistant Head Coach at Portsmouth Northsea Swimming Club and has previously been Head Coach City of Oxford, Head Coach of Haslemere, Area Head Coach West/ Development Officer City of Glasgow and Assistant Coach at Millfield. Lindsay has worked with many age group swimmers who have gone on to represent GB at Olympic and World level, and has placed swimmers on Commonwealth Games (finals), European Junior Teams, EYOF, World Youth Team and European Short Course. She has also coached swimmers who have won gold at World Schools Games.
I think you will agree that it is fantastic for our Club to have such a high calibre coach join our coaching team.
Jo John and Lindsay have previously worked together on training camps and other ASA projects. Jo believes their coaching styles complement each other well, and Lindsay has met most of our coaches and together they will be a strong coaching team.
It is planned that Lindsay will focus more on the younger end of the Club and the exact details of this are yet to be determined. Lindsay is in the process of selling her house in Portsmouth so we do not have an agreed start date for her but it will be as soon as is possible. Lindsay is currently house hunting and will be visiting sessions with Jo John when she is in the area. Please bear with us in the interim if there is some disruption to sessions but we are confident once Lindsay is in position, this should all be resolved.
