The South West Region will be sending a team of 30 of the best swimmers in the region to the Lisbon International Meet in February 2020. They leave on 6th February and return home on 10th February 2020.
Selections for this meet are made from all swimmers in the Swim England South West Region who have not represented GB in 2019. Thirty swimmers have been selected from their long course performances in Olympic events between January 1st 2019 – 4th August 2019 and include athletes born between 2001 and 2004. They will have the opportunity to race in five individual events over the weekend and may be selected to swim in relays. The objective for this event is to provide a positive team experience and exposure to an overseas camp and competition for the development of English athletes aspiring to achieve international representation and success in the future. The Head Coach has been selected by the Swim England South West Swimming Committee as recommended by the Swim England South West Coaches Committee. The Head Coach is usually selected to lead the camp for two consecutive years with this being our own Jo John’s second year having worked as Head Coach for the Swim England South West team at the Bulgarian National Meet in Sofia in 2018.
We are very proud that our Head Coach Jo John is Head Coach for this meet. The team of swimmers has now been selected and 3 of our swimmers have been selected to attend. They are Liv Burrow, Alec White and Flora Perkin. Well done to all three, who are quite rightly rewarded for what has been an excellent year for them, with all three of them attending British Champs in the Summer.
