Great First Outing in Southern Junior League

The club took part in the league for the first time this year.

The competition is open to teams across the South West and Wales and is open to the 9, 10, 11 and 12 age groups. The format of the gala is a mixture of individual and relay events swum either over 1 or 2 lengths.

The competition is swum over 3 rounds with the last round being the final. Two rounds were at Hutton Moor and the last one at the Link Centre in Swindon.

Despite this being our first season we qualified for the ‘B’ final which was a great achievement in itself and we missed out very narrowly to the winners finishing in second place.

The competition is a great opportunity for the younger swimmers to take part in team events and the support on poolside was admirable as well as the excitable banter on the coach. Most of the swimmers were taken from the Competitive Development and Junior Performance squads and the amount of effort given by all was really impressive.

As always these events could not take part without the support of coaches, team managers and officials so thanks to all who were involved.
